Air Born Kites was founded by Estelle Barton and Paul Thody in August 1991, four years after their first (adult!) kite flying experience. The first Brighton-based shop was opened in December of that year.
March 1999 saw the creation of a second retail outlet in the newly opened Bluewater Park complex near Dartford in Kent. With two outlets, many experienced staff and over ten years in the trade, we feel that we have a lot to offer.
Both Paul and Estelle are long term kite fliers and have immersed themselves in all the varied aspects of kite flying with particular emphasis on sport and power kiting.
We offer sport kite instruction and lessons in power kiting, kite surfing, kite buggying and kite mountain boarding - all by recognised instructors. We also perform event demos, run kite making work shops and will build custom kites and banners - please ask for a quote. A full repair service is available for all our kites.
